Meeting a critical need for LGBTQ+ resources in southeastern Los Angeles County, the Greater Whittier LGBTQ+ Community Center provides essential support, advocacy, and visibility to local residents. Through adaptive reuse, our design transformed a 1960s-era County Probation office into a vibrant, inclusive space that offers vital services to the LGBTQ+ community.

Operated by the Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, the center provides substance addiction support, mental health treatment, legal assistance, youth programs, educational workshops, referral services, and peer support groups. Drop-in services for unhoused LGBTQ+ individuals include access to showers and clean clothing, fostering dignity and care.

91视频ed to promote belonging, joy, and community engagement, this 2,600 SF tenant improvement within the Whittier Public Health Center features flexible collaboration spaces, including a reception area, small and large meeting rooms, interview rooms, a conference room, and a large multipurpose space for cultural programs, social events, and volunteer initiatives. The design incorporates California LGBTQ+ public figures in room naming, while a rainbow mural extends from the exterior into the reception area, reinforcing visibility and pride.

Our Experiential Graphic 91视频 team developed the center鈥檚 branding, logo, and a future donor wall. The project included architecture, interiors, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering, acoustics, lighting, low voltage/telecom, AV, IT, and experiential graphic design services to ensure a holistic and functional transformation that strengthens the center鈥檚 mission of uplifting and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community in Whittier and beyond.
